KONAWAENA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CREATE PEACE MURAL

LET PEACE BLOSSOM

More pictures to come.

Commemorating the inaugural of President Barack Obama, students at Konawaena High School designed and painted a mural
illustrating their hopes for a peaceful future while celebrating the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. The mural depicts a hula dancer with
a rainbow of music flowing from her hands and into the ocean. The center of the mural shows a Hawaiian lei in the shape of
of a peace sign, with the saying "Let Peace Blossom". An ukulele is also illustrated with the Hawaiian saying
Hana Lau Lima, ( Hands Working Together). The 12 feet by 5 feet
mural will become part of a larger mural project headed by Joanne Tawfilis. The project hopes to create a 12 mile mural
of unit, peace, and hope that will be displayed in Egypt in 2010.
