Artist Statement
For the past 15
years I have had the opportunity to produce over twenty community mural
projects
both in the Los Angeles area and the Big Island of Hawaii. The projects
have varied in size and scope,
but the underlying theme of all my murals is the message of caring for
our planet for future generations.
I strongly believe we are all stewards and students of this planet.
It is my intention as a public artist to connect people to their aina/land,
by celebrating the animals
and plants that inhabit their community, or in most instances, once
inhabited their community.
I hope that these murals not only illustrate the grace, dignity and
beauty of these animals,
but help promote open dialogue that will produce sound management of
our natural resources.
Ghandi once stated, “The greatness of a nation can be judged by
the way its animals are treated.
